Here is what some people have written and said about Andrew's programs

Excellent!!! Andy Hill has proven time & time again that he knows how to conquer the impossible. His ideas & creativity are incredible. If everyone could implement any of his suggestions, college campuses, as far as alcohol & substance abuse prevention, would be a much better place.

Andy,
I attend Wittenberg university and I was at the Ohio 38 conference  I learned a lot about alcohol and a lot about myself.  when I came back to Wittenberg I talked to my lacrosse team about the conference they had many questions for me and I was able to answer them.  I was wondering if you could email me some ideas of things that our captains council can   be more successful in educating our team members about alcohol and other drugs. I would really appreciate it.  The story that you told us in the beginning of the conference made me think about myself and things that I have done.  You made me laugh and cry. I learned a lot thank you very much

Hey what's up?  I am an MU student.  I attended your presentation tonight, and was impressed, saddened and reflective all at the same time.  I'm sure you don't remember me due to the fact that you do many of these, but I am the girl with the brown hair, blue eyes and had on a blue vest.  I sat in the third row.  I came up and talked to you after your talk and told you that I related to your life almost as much as if it were my own.  Many of your experiences are my experiences, and many times during your talk, I started to cry, just because I can remember the things you were talking about as they occurred in my life.  I couldn't help it.  I try not to think about those things just because they are pretty awful, but at times, maybe they still need to be thought about, just to keep things real.   But thanks for coming to MU, I enjoyed your presentation, I can tell you took
drama classes in college.  :)  Thanks!  Have fun on the road, I always do!!

I just wanted to say thanks for the talk tonight. I thought you did an excellent job of relating to the student experience. I too was a high school athlete anticipating on playing college sports. I came to college, having never touched a drink, converting completely into the typical ‘college' partier. I really party no more than any of my other peers, drinking is accepted form of social life here, it is the culture. I could totally relate to your playing the ‘college game'; getting good grades, still raging on the weekends, and not learning a damn thing. It makes me sick sometimes thinking of how much money is invested in my education and I just toil around, somewhat goalless. Anyway, again I just wanted to let you know how much of an impact your speech had on me and a lot of my fellow peers. You definitely gave us all something to think about. I do not want you to take this personally but had I not been required to attend this presentation, I doubt I ever would have came. Not because I have anything against ‘drinking' programs, but because I really didn't think that I had any sort of problem. I think that it was definitely fate or some strange cosmic act that I attended and heard your story...thanks again, and good luck.

Hello...I heard you speak here at Lehigh University last week. I was very moved by your ability to speak before such a large group about the problems you've had in your life. The subject is touchy because of the fact that you are probably speaking to those who are abusing substances the most at this point in their lives and don't even notice. Many people probably went because they had to and probably thought that it was going to be someone telling them the harmful effects of drinking and the consequences of underage drinking. Well, I can personally say that your talk did not fit the common stereotype. Everyone that I knew was inspired by it. I first want to thank your for coming, and secondly want to ask a favor. I know this is weird coming from someone that you have never met. I was wondering if, as part of your touring, you would consider going to my old highschool in New Jersey. I'm not sure if this is at all possible for you, but I know it couldn't hurt to ask. I feel that the way you present your story would catch the attention of highschool students rather than just another boring assembly that no one is ever able to focus on. I also know that my Highschool has a growing problem that I've noticed from freshman through senior year, and even more so now that I am out of highschool. Please get back to me in regards to this. This is very important to me, and again I think you would be the perfect one to get across to them. Thank you so much for your time!

Andy,
I just back to Chicago, and had to write to say what an awesome job you did with your performance on Friday! It had a raw honesty that you don't normally see at these types of presentations. Put simply, you kicked ass.

Keep it up.

Everyone who witnesses your testimony, including myself, will take it with them wherever they go in life, whether they realize it now or not. It's just one of those things that "sticks." I know that it will forever remain in my mind and in my heart. I wish you the best of luck in life and thank you for your time and effort.

This impacted me personally by thinking of the choices I sometimes make and how they effect other people. I know that I will never let myself fall into the drinking slump although it is easy to do, like Andy told about. It also made me think about my friends and how they drink. Now I know who I have to keep and eye on and watch out for. I definitely think you should have Andy back every year. Very beneficial. I enjoyed him alot.

When Andy was talking about the lessons he learned about life through his hard times with alcohol, I can relate to another setback within my own life. When I was in a serious car accident and in the hospital for six weeks following, my body and mind hit rock bottom. I had so many physical and mental confusions that really sounded similar to the experiences that Andy went through. It helped me understand that any person can work their way out of a tough situation. When you have lost everything, there is still some type of hope that can help you work through the situation. This is the reason that I was upset about having to go to class after the presentation. I had so many comments and questions about the story. I think this presentation is a very positive one, and I would be happy to use this presentation in any classroom that I will teach.

Andy,
I just saw your presentation 3 hours ago, and I am still in awe. Your program is the BEST presentation I have seen an the subject of alcohol abuse. I hope you have many successes in life.

"We recently had the opportunity to attend Andy Hill's workshop entitled "Alcoholiday" at the 1996 National Conference for Violence and Drug Prevention in Park City, Utah. This workshop had a lasting impact on us and portrayed a powerful message that we will not forget. This program was presented in a way where it touched all our senses and emotions through his music, attire, and words. The story that he told was very educational as well as inspirational. We hope to have the opportunity to enjoy this program again and highly recommend this presentation to all those who work with violence and drug prevention programs"

"I thought it was the best program that I've ever seen here. It really touched me and made me see how alcohol can really hurt people and that other people also feel the same way I do about certain aspects of life."

" The presentation was not phony. He used real life experiences to relate to problems that we encounter."

"As I have never drunk before this serves as a reminder not to start."

"I thought the presentation was excellent. It made me look at myself and the value of my education. It gave me the feeling to live life to the fullest and make the most of it."

"Dear Andy, I'm writing to thank you again on behalf of my chapter for speaking at our meeting on Sunday. I really think that the things that you said and the way in which you presented your ideas made many of us think about issues in our lives in new ways. As for myself, several times during your presentation I felt as though you knew my fears and concerns and had tailored your talk to fit my needs. What you're doing is valuable and relevant and I'm glad it's been a success for you. I find it difficult to discuss my personal issues, but I want you to know that your words were a comfort to me. You helped me by making me see that my concerns don't isolate me because I'm not the only with insecurities like mine and that I won't always feel this way. I'm sure that others experienced similar feelings. We'd like to have you back again sometime soon. Thanks again."

"I thought it was a great program -- especially the way it was presented to music."

"It was very interesting the first time I saw it, but even better the second time!"

"I think I'm going to look at my life a little differently now because I think that my life now is a lot like yours used to be."

"You made me look at myself and what I've been doing. The presentation was great and should be down more often"

"Please continue to do this program. It is a vital message that everyone should hear!"

"Andy, I wanted to try to express everything that your program made me think about. I thought about my high school career, what my college career will be like, what the rest of my life will be like, and as scary as it all seems, the perspective that you brought to all those time periods made everything seem less scary, for lack of a better way to describe it. I have never been so moved by a spoken presentation. and maybe it was because it was all so real, maybe it was because I can see some people I care about very much falling into the same sort of lifestyle and I don't know if they'll be so lucky. whatever the case something about it moved me greatly. this is the type of program that is so very desperately needed to educate everyone. unfortunately, there are just not enough Andy hills to go around. I admire what you are doing and I am very thankful that you are doing it. I was thinking while you were talking and I thought it discouraging to know that probably about half if not more of the kids you talked to today are still going to get shitfaced tonight. it's too bad that it sometimes takes a major tragedy for so many people to understand everything that you were talking about. anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your efforts have definitely not gone unappreciated. thank you very much.

p.s. the music added an amazing dimension to the entire program."

"Very Inspirational!! Tackled the problem with great illustrations that relate to everyone. Thanks for the enlightenment!!"

"Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. My older brother is going through life in almost the exact same fashion as you did. Your story gave me hope for his future! Thanks again."

"Awesome! Extremely thought provoking. I welcome the honesty of your travels. Thank you."

"Okay, not only are you a babe but your presentation was awesome. It reminded me of so many things I've gone through it was unreal. Thanks for putting it into an amazing perspective."

"Thank you so much. I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that. I'm impressed with your enthusiasm to change and help others. It has inspired me to do some good."

"Takes guts to spill them. I'm impressed. I feel like I've been a bystander and now I'm able to sympathize."

"This was definitely the best talk I have ever heard on the subject of the abuse of alcohol. Not only organized but quality meaningful material which I'm sure touched the hearts of everyone in the room. It's talks like this which high school students need to hear before or during their fall to substances. I really feel it could make a difference. I'm from South Orange County California. I'm 19 years old and have seen plenty of people B.S. about substance abuse that no one listens to. But this could definitely make a difference among young people! Thanks"

"Andy - Better presentation than Carl Boyd or anyone I saw at School of Alcoholism."
Andy's comment: Carl Boyd is an extremely dynamic speaker who presents keynote presentation across the country. I am extremely flattered to be mentioned in the same breath..just once it would be awesome to earn the same kind of bucks :)!
